Cool breeze, gentle waves slapping adjacent shores. All of the ingredients for a lovely sunrise making it a very slow process getting out of a warm comfy bed. Coffee helped us along.
Pasquale's was the choice for breakfast, and as always, the food was perfect. Provisioning fresh food was easier since our bellies were full. We were able to get to the post office, hardware store and marine supply store on the bicycles.
Breaking the rules of The Crews Nest, Ron fished off the dock to test his new "bait". Since we are the only boat here, it did not seem to be an issue.
I found a new shop down by Millers Marina with outdoor seating for coffee and features a fountain with beach glass in it's center. The shop, named Bay View has a unique collection of clothing, crystal, jewelry, original art work and other one of a kind gifts. What caught my eye was the Pure Beach Glass Book and Note Cards.
Back at the boat:
Today's Lesson: Bridges on The Erie -Oswego Canal System
We spent much time going through log books and charts to make notes on bridge heights and what needed to be taken down to pass safely through. Looks like we'll have the canvas and mast down throughout most of this passage. Minimum safe passage height is 15.5 ft. We need 22ft with mast up. 15.6 feet with just bridge canvas and 12.5 feet with everything down. We'll know if all is ok by the third bridge at Tanawanda. If not we'll have to skip the barge canal and use the Welland.
Please send me recipes for dinners that can be made all in one pan. :) There is no crockpot aboard (yet).
Rain off and on throughout the night kept Ron awake, I however, was out like a light during the middle of a very loud DVD.
