Day 14 Sun 20th Happy Fathers Day

Wild Goose II remains in Erie Basin today as we wake up to Fathers Day.

Last night we were surprised for the second time when a boat neighbor apologized for not including us in something. How wonderful people can be... our neighbor had their daughter in for the weekend to visit (24 hours only)...they left to go out. The group was bothered by the fact that it was a family outing and could not wrap their arms around us to join in. Of course, we said, "no prob"," we'll visit after all settles down tomorrow".

Ron received a call from Kristyn (his daughter) which  tremendously brightened his day.   I was pleased that they discussed a possible visit to the boat later this summer when Charleston's weather is so hot and humid.. Maybe meet up with us in upper Lake Huron.

My family was getting together at  Mom and Dad's and  I called home. I  found myself with cell phone being passed around to say "hi" to everyone there. Great day talking to loved ones. I still wish they were all here.

Now.....work to do. We are going to begin our journey into the Erie Canal tomorrow and need to get the canvas and antennae down to make it under the bridges. We cleaned and put away the top canvas for most of the afternoon while our neighbors patiently waited to do some visiting.

OMG, after Goose got her hair cut, she looks like a different boat. We now think we can make it safely under the bridges. Tomorrow, the test shall begin.

Serious study takes place as we wind down this beautiful day, as I am nervous about high and low water data being accurate for bridge clearances.

FINALLY :) we relax aboard the 44' Albion and  have a couple cocktails with the "dock  H family". Bob and Jo Jo from the trawler, and Norm and Catherine owners of the Catalina sailboat. They are so much fun and Bob is helpful with hints from previous travels. We share stories, and eat food filled with terrible fat grams and salt with some beer and wine before we head back to The Wild Goose for dinner. I am confident that we will run into more people like them. That is one of the big rewards of  being a boat owner.  .

Oh, and did I mention, they are the third persons offering us a ride into town for provisions? I love boat people. They are like no other when travelling.
