Day 9 Tuesday 15th EYC

Waking up to the construction noise of new floating docks being placed. As we look around outside, there is know sign of Carraci's yet and I make some egg sandwiches for breakfast.Looking at the area maps and looking on shore, it appears we have a rugged climb to exit the club and get up to the mainland. I am anxious to get to the beach, but want to make sure Ron is up to it with his ankles, so we work around the boat, do some laundry and have our lesson of the day. Today's lesson is a review of how to enter and exit locks.

A wonderful smell is surrounding our boat and look up toward the clubhouse to see the parking lot getting full and look at our clock...where did this morning go? I talked Ron into lunch at the clubhouse before our adventure into town and am glad we did.  I had a great tuna melt with sweet potato fries (my fave), while Ron munched on a large BLT with a cup of wonderful chowder. Good decision.

We walk-ride our bikes up the steep ravined road, which is cooled by a lot of old trees and small water streams. Along the way, there are many signs that read NO WAKE, SLOW,NO WAKE. They are posted in critical areas where there are blind turns and bridges overhead. Really neat.

We leave the drive and are in a residential area and follow 6th street west until we get to the entrance of the State Park. Although I was here last fall by land with Signe and Lynda, I forget that there is a really cool water park with roller coasters that go over the street entrance to the Park. We continue  downhill toward the beginning of the peninsula to get to beach #1 on the left. The beach is full a little further down where the area for swimming is marked off. Ron decides to sit and relax on a fallen tree in the shade
while I get myself ready to find treasure.

Again, I find 2 lucky stones right away and then nothing for a bit. I need to get out from my own shadow. Once I move further down the beach, I find some beautiful turquoise pieces. Very small, but of jewelry quality with no chips and lots of frosting. I will find a few more pieces, mostly small, and mostly green and brown with 2 very tiny chips of cobalt blue. I find one real nice sailboat shaped deep green that will be great on my olive oil jars. It's been a couple hours and I have met some people that are locals and from the campground area of the park. All finding small treasures and not sharing what they have found, it is rather interesting that it's such a secret.

Turning around, I see Ron heading my way probably thinking I have fallen or have gotten lost but he likely just doesn't understand how time flies when you're out searching. We head back to the log where our bikes are locked and Ron has  made a heart out of the lovely beach stones with an arrow utilizing some fallen tree branches and float wood. XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOX.

We walked the bikes up the hill to 8th street and found a produce market for our list of needs. We still need some coffee and meats, so we head to the local grocery and stock up our backpacks before we get to enjoy the downhill ride home. I felt like I was on a roller coaster and was checking my breaks frequently.
A firetruck passes us and Ron's first thoughts are that the new washer/dryer on our boat has overheated or something.  We are still getting used to it.Good for us, but not for someone else.  Along comes a rescue squad and we can see what appears to be someone being treated on their boat by the EMT's. Hope they are OK.

Freshened and up at EYC for dinner was a treat. I chose Thai Chicken Ka-Bobs with sweet potato fries again....mmmmm and a nice cold glass of Pinot Grigio. Ron went for the perch and fries with the same house wine. Very tasty. Ice cream and coffee topped it off and we came back to Goose to enjoy the evening sunset.
