Day 5 FR June 11 Bonus @ Mentor Harbor YC

Departure from Huron was earlier than normal due to a long run day and we wanted the people from CPtYC to have the dock we intruded upon. After looking at Ports, I got on the phone to see if Mentor YC had any space for us for the evening. My thought was that there might be empty boats slips due to The Mills Race being held this weekend. Well, they had room for us, and we soon found out that this weekend is a 75th Anniversary Regatta! With the forecast of 90 degree heat we weighed our options of Mentor... the outside swimming pool, inside air conditioning, restaurant/bar, and an easy way to get to the beach....hmmm where do you think the boat is stopping today? Upon arrival we realized that we were in for a real treat with special events planned for the entire weekend including luncheons, fashion shows etc for non-racing ladies. Beer and boat food All U Can Eat and Drink with a wristband by the regatta headquarters.
Within the 30 boat fleet due to race Sat and Sun, we note S35 Fever and a J33 WindLassie, formerly called Thing, and before that called JUMP II. She looked good and was moored  with a bunch of other go fast boats and Tartan 10's.
Since weather is looking bad for tomorrow, and the 2nd night here is  free (ILYA reciprocal). You might have guessed, we're staying 2 nights.
Too tired to go exploring, we decided to pour some Captain Morgans to get us a jump start and began preparing dinner using leftovers from Huron, and Ron's infamous Ragu Spaghetti.
Ron went on a mission afterward and found the old JUMP II (Windlassie)  and chatted with the new owners. He was pleased to be on our former "baby".
A great day, and looking  for an even better Saturday.

  1. Hey there! While you're busy selling jewelry to boaters in Huron, your partner is busy showing work in Sylvania. When we stopped at her booth she asked if we were familiar with lucky stones, and you know where THAT took us! I hope she did well. It wasn't crowded, but there was a steady stream of visitors.
