New cool air has freshened The Bay, not sure what it means, but seems important to The Captain. I don't ask.
I just keep watching the birds eat fish flies from our boat saving me a chore. The birds are pretty fussy eaters as they eat the body and leave the wings.
Decided not to leave The Bay without some fresh meat, fruit and veggies which was unexpectedly good at The General Store
With refers packed and bikes secure on board , we headed off from our favorite place to head East. Huron Boat Basin was our choice and we had a bright blue sky, light breeze and just the normal power boat waves made in this area of the islands. Of course you racers will understand what that washboard term means.
I did hook up with some of the women after they had had a couple cocktails and pulled out jewelry made by our friend Signe Lawson and even some of my own. They went nuts!! Too bad I did not have all 30 women (timing is everything). I must say the husbands were quite happy to keep their "other halves" in a good mood. YEAH SIGNE and PATTI.
We wondered over to HYC to see if the average are of the membership was still 82...actually, Amy the bartender reminded us that when we were last here the average age was "dead", so, they are happy with the current rate in the 60-70 year range.
Great dinner of Pasta's (the chef's specialty is Alfredo sauces) with a bottle of wine, coffee and dessert, we spent only 57.00. The menu ranged from, fish, pork, steaks, chicken, burgers....to much to choose from.
Looks like the younger membership has brought back the lower outdoor patio bar and refurbished seating areas outside. Very, very nice. It would make for a great NCYC trip with staying at the basin and at least one dinner night at The Huron YC. Be sure to ask for Connie as your waitstaff.
Finished the evening back on board with a movie. A young Burt Reynolds in White Lightning. A guy flick.yuck !
This year's NCYC cruise is, once again, stopping in Huron. You're right. The yacht club food is great and they're very accommodating! It's nice to enjoy appetizers up in the gazebo on the hill overlooking the marina, too.
ReplyDeleteNice picture of you and Ron at the Huron Yacht
