Day 36 Monday July 12 Lot's of Locks

Today's the day of "lot's of locks". Most of what we have today are normal locks where water is let in and out to raise or lower you. Lock #21 however is a lift lock. As we enter the lock we are inside of a bathtub like chamber and it stays full of water while you are raised or lowered floating inside this vessel. It works kind of like a teeter - totter would with a child on each end. We went through with Emery El, a 50' DeFever from TN. If you've been following , our friends "Bob and Vinney".

We venture through Trent University and 5 more locks before we split with Emery El and head to  an "unnamed resort", (although I will give it out to anyone who asks ),  for some much needed rest and stretching.

We'll timing is everything, or is knowledge king? Not sure which of these, (or both) that we missed.
It is a beautiful ride there with many small islands with homes. cottages, and even a church being the only thing on an island. And some islands are just deserted. Tricky for the Captain as he has to pay extra careful attention while I get to take photo's. We go through an area marked on the charts as Hells' Gate.

Anyway, back to the "timing thing". ... We are so excited to go swimming and have lamb chops for dinner. After we pull in and get tied up, we are greeted warmly and I proceed to the office to pay and see a sign for the spa. Open Wed., Fri ., Sat., and Sun......so, no  manicure /pedi , or massages for me. After checking in, I walk up to the dining area to make reservations for dinner. The dining room is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. I am told that the "food is great on the patio at the bar and grill".... OK.

We work hard through the rain to get our chores done and of course this means that the swimming pool is only full of the hardiest of little children. No  relaxing swim for me :)))  We topped the evening with the world's worst hamburger and french dip sandwiches, as did the boat behind us as we later overheard, and the group next to us who came in on a bass boat that made no bones about only enjoying the cocktail part of their meal.
Hey, what the heck....it sure is a beautiful place and we are still very happy to be here. As MadDog say's "any day above ground....is a GOOOOOOD DAY".
