Day 31 Wed July 7 Staying another day in Campbellford

Ron has been up for quite sometime when I get up around 7:45AM. At 8AM a knock on the door from the lock master for the next lock to tell us it is down, and not sure how long. So, the deal is sealed. We'll be staying for the free concert tonight in the adjacent park with front row seats to listen to the live band. It's still very hot and there are thunder clouds forming that threaten the show. We'll just have to play by ear.

After our breakfast, we get the bikes out to sight see before it gets too warm. I want to get pictures of someone else going through locks 11-12, so that's where we go first. We were told by Sandy back in Trenton that the suspension bridge is a "must do" sight, although she herself chickened out after three steps onto the bridge. The pictures from the bridge are pretty awesome. Old pump stations, rushing water, pretty flowers surround us.

We bike through the shaded woods of what used to be a private estate. As we exit into the city, we pick up a few things and head back to the boat where I stay inside for the remainder of the day with the exception of an ice and water run. It was time again for some peace and quiet while Ron has found a couple guys to hang out with..

I work on the blog while Ron finishes the DVD from the night before. I couldn't help myself and joined Ron in the air conditioned aft cabin to watch the movie....what the heck? It's a Wednesday afternoon and it seems devilish to be doing this while other people are working. Sorry.

People are stragglingt into the park setting their chairs for the concert and I prepare dinner side dishes between uploading pictures for the blog. I break now and then to visit with "Bob and Vinny", as well as Art, but it's too hot for me and my joints. Ron brings me my part of the steak he is grilling and he takes the salad and veggies outside to eat and listen to the music.

I am nervously waiting to see if Ron will crash this band with his harmonica, To my relief, he and John hang back and enjoy the real band that is playing some wonderful 50's music. Ron and he have been going back and forth about their harps.

Up by our bow we had earlier spotted some bait fish and Ron dinks around with the fishing pole as the night comes to an end with a promise of cooling off soon, but not before we have another long day of hot locks tomorrow.

GREAT DAY! hope yours was half as cool.

  1. The top photo of the building with the tower next to the water is upside down...fooled ya!

To see the real picture turn it around. You are looking at the reflection.

  2. You're kidding! It is a great shot either way...but lousy conditions if you were trying to sail!
